Eat is a food security program that addresses the critical challenge of food insecurity among residents of New Rochelle, estimated to be as high as 40,000, by significantly increasing the supply of fresh, organic produce to the area soup kitchens, food pantries, and other distributors of food to the needy
Grow! Eat is expanding its capacity to grow and distribute fresh locally-grown produce by creating additional farms and greenhouses in New Rochelle, including partnering with other community—based organizations to increasing supply and distribution streams.
Grow! Eat is also is also training local farming entrepreneurs in the planting, cultivation and harvesting of fresh organic vegetables and herbs. In this manner the community will begin to create and perpetuate its own food sustainability models.
